New Oxford Dictionary

Eclectic Network is a new-media company initially registered in the State of Florida in 2007 by Internationalist & Journalist, Jesus M. Rojas Torres, MS'05 with a vision to produce and document artistic events that were taking place in the nascent Wynwood Arts District.

As the name implies, eclectic means incorporating a number of varied elements, wide-ranging  and broad-base, in an encyclopedic online network of people that share a passion for the arts, culture, education and information with a social responsibility.

Eclectic Network's debut in Wynwood in April 2008, "Art After Dark & Experimental Innovators" was an idea Rojas Torres wished to implement in Miami, to produce artistic events and exhibitions in alternative places throughout the city.

"The idea to create Art After Dark gatherings comes originally from New York City where parties are held seasonal at the Guggenheim Museum for members and their guests," said Rojas Torres, Director of Eclectic Network.

In 2009, anticipating the changes that the New Journalism was already bringing to the traditional media, Rojas Torres quickly immersed himself in the Web 2.0 using the latest technologies to jump start, in a self-propelled fashion, an eclectic career that goes beyond the blogosphere.

During Art Basel Miami Beach 2009, Rojas Torres created What's Up Miami? to give additional publicity for his long time, former business partner, Ben Bela Abounassif.

In less than two years, the forward-looking blog changed to an online art magazine view using Blogger as a platform with an unsurpassed search engine positioning on the web.

In April 2010, Rojas Torres joined Clarity Media Group as an independent contractor writing the Miami Art Gallery & Museum Examiner column at Examiner.com, one of the fastest growing websites for local news and information in the U.S.

In 2011, Rojas Torres expanded his reach of art related news & information covering international art fairs such as MIA Art Fair in Miami Beach and Shanghai Art Fair, using Miami as a metaphor of the current art developments taking place in the city since the arrival of the fairs more than a decade ago.
